MOON by Simaudio wins Award for Evolution 810LP Phonostage
A true purist design that is destined to become the new reference for analog playback. Astonishing analog reproduction combined with unsurpassed flexibility! “This phonostage resolves fine detail with astonishing precision; cymbals hang in space, and the way their harmonic structure subtly changes with their decay is clearly audible. It’s this level of resolution that brings music to life. The 810LP is a transparent window on the LP front-end driving it, and is fully at home in the context of the world’s best electronics, loudspeakers, and associated equipment.” – Robert Harley

GoldenEar Triton One’s Get Rave Review in The Absolute Sound
“The GoldenEar Triton One is an exception. It provides both extraordinary Sound quality and value for money.”
“The Triton’s bass quickly proved to be exceptionally deep and detailed, and to have excellent dynamic range.”
“The Triton Ones are one of the best buys in speakers I’ve had the chance to hear at anything like their price. They have all—or more—of the features and technology that anyone looking for specsmanship could want, but their real merit is that they provide sustained musical pleasure with exceptional realism. Highly recommended, and if $5000 is too much, be aware that the Triton Twos have many of the same design features and share the same tweeter.”
Simaudio Moon 610LP gets strong review from TONE Audio
The $7,500 MOON 610LP, though not inexpensive, opens another door. The 610LP has similar, yet slightly softer voicing than the 810LP. A socket on the rear panel of the 610LP marked “power supply,” allows you the option to take advantage of Simaudio’s 820S external power supply. For all but the most obsessed, this will be the last phonostage you need to buy. Very enthusiastically recommended. Simaudio’s MOON Evolution 610LP phonostage is a fantastic addition to an analog system, offering an incredibly high price to performance ratio for the analog enthusiast that wants a cost no object phonostage in a single turntable system without refinancing their home.

Home Theater Review's Best of 2014 Awards features GoldenEar Triton 1’s
Triton Ones routinely do things loudspeakers priced at 2, 3, even 4x higher might find difficult to match. The Triton One is merely a scaled-up Triton Two with a larger footprint and more of the same drivers: three 5-by-9-inch Long-Throw Quadratic Subwoofer Bass Drivers instead of two, and four 7-by-10-inch Quadratic Planar Infrasonic Radiators instead of two. The amplifier that powers the Triton One's built-in subs has also been redesigned with numerous separate power supplies rather than the single larger supply of past designs, an element borrowed from truly high-end standalone amps. “Arguably one of the best loudspeakers under $5,000” –HomeTheaterReview.

GoldenEar's Triton Series has a New Member – The Triton Five
The Triton Five, a worthy step-up from the best selling, double Product-of-the-Year winning Triton Seven, made its debut at CES 2015. The new Triton Five tower speaker joins the Triton Seven as a passive member of the Triton lineup, lacking the built-in powered subwoofers of the Triton One, Two, and Three. A larger version of the Seven, the Triton Five combines one HVFR tweeter with dual six-inch cast-basket mid/bass drivers and four eight-inch planar sub-bass radiators, and it has a rated frequency response of 26 Hz to 35 kHz.
The new Triton Five is a larger version of the Seven, with greater dynamic range and even deeper bass extension. In addition, several important refinements carried over from the Triton One development program result in even better imaging as well as a more sophisticated overall sonic presentation. Like the Seven, it achieves superbly deep, very impactful bass performance by combining advanced technology drivers with our highly evolved and sophisticated bass-loading technologies. And, as with all of our Triton Towers, the Triton Five is also ideal for use in two-channel systems of the highest quality, as well as complete multi-channel surround music and home theater systems.

"This beautifully engineered and exquisitely manufactured trio sits right at the top of the tube electronics pyramid. And yet the odd thing is that, in certain key ways, it doesn’t sound all that traditionally “tubey.” Yes, of course, it has what you would expect from tubes in the way of beautiful tone color from top to bottom. But it also has what you wouldn’t expect (or wouldn’t expect to this extent): speed, grip, and definition, particularly in the bottom octaves." - Jonathan Valin

T.H.E. Show Newport 2015
"Retailer Scott Walker Audio and Synergistic Research teamed up to show the Magico S5 in a room that felt as though it were the size of an aircraft hanger. Despite the hostile acoustic environment, I can say that I’ve never heard S5s sound so spectacular. Synergistic demonstrated the effects of their room-treatment products, and although some are head-scratchers, they made an obvious audible improvement." - Robert Harley

MAGICO Q7 MKII wins Golden Ear Award 2015
"Magico has taken the Q7, a speaker I’ve long considered to be the state of the art and, surprisingly, made it significantly better. The Q7 Mk II benefits from an entirely new tweeter, designed from the ground up, a fresh midrange diaphragm made from graphene (a new carbon-fiber-like material), and a redesigned crossover with exotic capacitors. The Mk II obviates the classic dilemma of resolution vs. ease by combining the highest resolution midrange and treble I’ve heard in a loudspeaker with tremendous delicacy and a complete lack of hardness and glare. The sonic impact is so profound that the Mk II sounds as though it has a different tonal balance, but the two speakers have identical responses. Although the woofer section remains unchanged, the Mk II’s bass is considerably improved, perhaps by virtue of the midrange’s higher-resolution reproduction of the overtones of bass instruments. I’ll have a lot more to say about the Q7 Mk II in my upcoming review, but for now I’ll enthusiastically give this stunningly great transducer a Golden Ear Award."

The C1100 preamplifier brings a new level of performance and luxury to McIntoshs heralded preamplifier offerings evidenced by its high level inputs having the lowest noise of any McIntosh preamplifier ever produced. It utilizes a two-chassis design where the control and power sections are completely separate from the audio section. Absolute isolation of a preamplifiers two main functions control and sound is achieved by this unusual but effective design and will provide you with the purest sound reproduction possible for generations of listening enjoyment.
The C1100 is comprised of the C1100 controller and the C1100 vacuum tube preamplifier. The two units are connected together via a pair of specially designed, high performance umbilical cables that are shielded to prevent outside noise from leaking into the audio signal. While they are two separate units, when connected they act as one and are easy to control and operate from the included remote control or the C1100 controller front panel. Both units chassis are comprised of polished stainless steel and hairline brushed black Titanium stainless steel, offering a new degree of richness and refinement.

Yarlung Records to use SWA facilities to examine recording & microphone test tracks in MAGICO reference listening room...
Yarlung Records will be recording at The Segerstrom Center for the Arts in early November, 2015. Yarlung will take their microphone test tracks to Scott Walker Audio (Orange County, CA) for a final check of levels and balance. Coincidentally, the Magico speakers used at Scott Walker Audio are featured in a current newsletter from The Absolute Sound. Yarlung was delighted to see a glowing review of their first 45 RPM vinyl release Ciaramella Dances in the same newsletter.
This November recording, J Schlichting executive producer, celebrates the music of James Matheson, who will be with us during the sessions. Color Field Quartet from the Chicago Symphony plays Jim’s string quartet, and soprano Laura Strickling and pianist Tom Sauer join us from New York for Jim’s song cycle Times Alone. These two works will accompany Jim’s violin concerto, with Baird Dodge as soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Esa-Pekka Salonen, conductor.
We return to Samueli Hall at The Segerstrom Center for the Arts with executive producer Ann Mulally, to create the debut album for The Sibelius Piano Trio in March, 2016. Repertoire includes works by Wennäkoski, Saariaho, Dorman and Sibelius, as well as a new Yarlung commission from Argentine composer Diego Schissi.
CNET Review -- Bowers & Wilkins 805 D3 ... Exquisite diamond tweeter speakers worth their weight in gold
The best loudspeaker isn't the one that produces the most, it's the one that loses the least." Those words ring true when listening to the company's flagship 805 D3 monitors; they let the music speak for itself. At $6,000 per pair the all-new 805 D3 is the most "affordable" stereo model in Bowers & Wilkins' 800 Series lineup. The 800 D3 Series speakers are the culmination of seven years of development at the company's research center in Steyning. The 805 D3 is a large, two-way monitor speaker. Though it doesn't look radically different from the second generation 805 Diamond Series speakers, Bowers & Wilkins informs hundreds of design changes have been made from the model that was introduced in 2010. Build quality standards are commensurate with the 805 D3's high asking price. Bowers & Wilkins also offers handsome floor stands for use with the 805 D3, which will cost $1,000 per pair.
